Lincoln is here!

Well everyone knows now I think but I thought I'd better put up his birth story.
I woke up Wed (5/11/11) and had contractions all day. Nothing serious.. just regular contractions 25-30 minutes apart. I went to work and worked all day hoping that being up and around would get things going. Well it did! At about 7:30 that night the contractions got a lot closer together.. they were really irregular but they were between 5-10 apart. I called the hospital about 10 to make sure I was ok to still be at home, 30 minutes away from the hospital. The nurse told me until contractions were regular and 5-7 min apart or until my water broke that I could stay at home. I decided I would try to sleep a little so I would be rested up a bit for the rest of labor and delivery. At about 11:30 or 12 I had a hard time staying asleep. I had a contraction that woke me up and kind of freaked me out so I woke Judd up and we got everything in the car and headed to Ogden!
It felt like the drive took forever! On the way my contractions started being about 5 minutes apart. We got to the hospital and got checked in and were settled into our room at about 2am. At check in I was dialated to a 4. We had decided on a natural childbirth so  the nurse told us to go ahead and walk around to keep things going. We walked the halls for about an hour.. that is when I knew I was getting to worn out. We got back to the room and I took a warm bath.. that was nice! Then it was into bed. If I had only known how life would be after birth I would've spent more time out of bed.. Well our nurses were GREAT! Our first nurse was super nice, really helpful, checked on us tons. Her shift was over at 5 am so we got a new nurse, Laurel, at 5. I think she was my FAVORITE nurse. She was really good with the natural childbirth stuff so we were THRILLED to have her with us. She checked me at 5 and I was dialated to a 7. She told me the Dr would be in soon because he had 3 C-Sections to preform that morning. Dr Housel showed up between 6:30-7. My water still hadn't broke so he broke it for me. (Talk about uncomfortable!) Then he left and told me to keep it up, he'd be back soon. I started to get more painful contractions, thanks to Judd and Laurel we made it through. Laurel checked me again at 7:30 and I was still only at a 7 so I was feeling a little down.. I was so ready to have this baby! We changed things up positions hoping that would get things going. IT WORKED! She checked me again just after 8 and I had dialated to an 8. WOO HOO! That is when I started feeling like pushing. She had me push through one contraction and I quickly went from an 8 to a 10! READY TO GO! Now to get Dr Housel. Laurel left and came back about 5 min later to let me know that I would have to wait a bit. Dr Housel was just finishing up with his 2nd C-Section.
Oh the waiting.. That was DEFINITELY the worst part of the whole labor and delivery. I had to wait about 15 minutes. I cheered when I saw Dr Housel enter my room. We were ready to go. I pushed through 5 contractions and Lincoln was born at 8:49 am. 8 pounds 8 ounces of perfect little boy! Judd cried, I cried, I think the nurse cried a little too. What an amazing moment! I was so happy! They took Lincoln to get him cleaned up while Dr Housel finished up with me. One thing about Dr Housel.. He is always smiling, joking and very rarely gets serious.. That is when I knew something wasn't quite right.. He got serious. I was bleeding too much. The nurse started bustling about gave me a couple shots handing Dr Housel stuff. Talking in the medical terms I wasn't sure what about. I was strangely calm while he got the bleeding slowed.
Bleeding that much made it near impossible to get out of bed. I laid in bed the whole day! I couldn't get out of bed because I would get too dizzy and pass out. I finaly was able to get out of bed at nearly 9 that evening. That was a great moment also! :)

I think Lincoln looks just like his daddy in this pic!

You could see this image frequently while we were at the hospital. Daddy and his little sleeping partner!
We are so so so happy to have Lincoln here. He is such a good baby. Very calm and super cuddly. We couldn't have asked for a better kid! You can see pictures from the hospital online at http://www.our365.com/newbornportraits/default.aspx Just choose to look at babies born on 5/12/11, State of UT and then MUN for the last three letters of our last name then you'll see my name! Thank You to everyone for you love and support. We coudn't have done this without our friends and family behind us. We are so blessed!!

  1. I love that you went natural and that the most uncomfortable part was breaking your water. Sister, you tell it like it is... you serously make it sound easy!
